As I took a look though my blog posts from this semester I have realized that the certain types of pictures and paintings that I have chosen, catch my eye because of the excitement they bring to the table. For an example, for my representative work blog post i chose an image that is very emotional and that is very deep to me and it catches my eye because of the emotion it shows and the emotion it can cause to whoever feels the same way. That picture can really speak to someone who feels like the have to put on a new face to make everyone else comfortable to be around them, even though it is okay not to be okay sometimes. It is okay to need help and guidance. So from that certain post that stimulates all kinds of emotions for all sorts of different people and that’s why it caught my eye. I’m not a person that is super big into paintings and that kind of stuff, like I would probably never see myself going to an art show or something but if I had to pick a certain type of art it would be abstract. I find myself liking this kind of work more because it really makes you have to look at it and pay attention to the detail to figure out what’s going on and figure out the deeper meaning behind it. For example, for my Metropolitan Museum of Art blog post I chose an abstract painting because it was unique to me. I loved the bright colors in it and I liked the shapes that were used. I also love music and this painting gave me an R&B, electric guitar vibe. This painting gave be a feeling of happiness because of the bright colors that were used. Neon colors are a great way to send a very happy and powerful message through artwork in my opinion. That painting supports my stimulation theme because it causes excitement with the eye catching colors and shapes and lines that are used throughout it. I’ve taken some pictures for photography and when I have I like to use bright colors in my photos to catch someone’s eye and bring them into the photograph with me. For example, for the blog post about photographer’s eye, I chose images that have color for the most part. Like the pink flower on the water and a couple colorful sunset pictures. My favorite thing to probably take pictures of is nature, just because there are so many things you can do with it and it is all around us all the time. Another example is my musical theme blog post. My theme for that post was the word beautiful. Songs that are about that word are used to mainly stimulate people’s feelings about themselves. It makes people feel good about themselves and it makes whoever the song was written about feel good about themselves. So yes, overall I enjoy works of art that stimulate emotions and feelings in people. I enjoyed this class and I has fun learning about different works of art! Thank you!
